Real Madrid Castilla shared the spoils with Deportivo at Riazor, securing a point in their fight for the top spot in Group I of the Primera Federación. The home side went ahead in the 20th minute, but Marvel equalised for our team before the break. Referee Palencia Caballero failed to award a penalty for a foul on Arribas in the 62nd minute. Despite the fact that Raúl's team had clear chances to win the game, the match ended all square.
The encounter was evenly matched from the outset of the game. Lucas Pérez had the first chance in a one-on-one with De Luis that our goalkeeper kept out with a fantastic save. Shortly afterwards, Pepe Sánchez headed home from a corner kick to open the scoring. Peter could have levelled the game on the half hour mark with another one-on-one, but the midfielder failed to get the better of Mackay. The equaliser came five minutes before the break, however. A corner kick was flicked on by Mario Martin and ricocheted off Alvaro Martin, but Marvel got on the end of the rebound to make it 1-1. Álvaro almost put Castilla in front with an acrobatic effort from an Arribas pass that went wide.
Substitute looking to complete the comeback
Madrid were the first side to come close in the second period. Following a great pass from Obrador, Álvaro went close with a shot that was cleared off the line by an opposition defender (53'). The striker again forced Mackay into action ten minutes later. Pablo Martínez brought down Arribas in the 62nd minute as he tried to bring the ball down inside the area, but the referee didn't point to the spot. The midfielder had a chance to give his side the win in the final minutes of the game with a shot that went narrowly wide. The points were eventually shared in Riazor.
