EMT buses exhibit series of historic Real Madrid posters

NEWS STORY. 03/10/2022

The action coincides with the 75th anniversary of the Santiago Bernabéu and the EMT.

Throughout the month of October, the buses owned by EMT (Madrid's municipal transport company)  will display a series of historic Real Madrid posters that showcase the Santiago Bernabéu's 75-year history, an initiative that seeks to support the Real Madrid Foundation's social outreach programmes. This joint programme has been launched to mark the 75th anniversary of the EMT's foundation.

Madrid City Council's environment and mobility delegate, Borja Carabante, and the EMT's managing director, Alfonso Sánchez, attended the launch  of the mobile exhibition, entitled Un recorrido por la historia (A journey through time). Representing Real Madrid at the event were Emilio Butragueño, director of institutional relations; Iker Casillas, deputy director general at the Real Madrid Foundation; and Isidoro San José, who was representing the Real Madrid Veterans Association. All of the attendees took their places on a specially kitted out municipal bus that headed from the Santiago Bernabéu to the Plaza de Cibeles, which is where the club traditionally hold their trophy celebrations.

Seventy-five historic posters
The exhibition comprises 75 historic posters that relive the Santiago Bernabéu's history. The exhibition will feature on 25 EMT buses in a nod to the Real Madrid Foundation's 25th anniversary. The action seeks to ensure that the images are seen by many as possible and those who are interested can find the posters involved in the exhibition at www.realmadridfundacion.org. Meanwhile, a number of items are available for purchase, including trays and light boxes featuring the historic posters. The fund will go towards the projects run by the Real Madrid Foundation's socio-sporting schools in Madrid aimed at disabled participants and groups at risk of exclusion.

The following bus lines, which offer strong visibility and run through various districts of Madrid, have been chosen to participate in this mobile exhibition: 6, 8, 10, 21, 25 (two buses), 28, 35, 38, 45, 51, 54, 59, 75, 82, 83, 122, 138, 145, 147 (two buses), 148, 150, E1 and E5. These 25 EMT vehicles will display three historic images apiece on the two sides and rear of the vehicle.

Commitment with history and charity
The EMT and the Real Madrid Foundation renewed their partnership agreement, which has been in place since 2016, in June, at which point plans were announced to organise this joint charity mobile exhibition on the fleet of municipal buses. To mark the initiative, a historic vehicle was installed at the EMT Museum in relation line 27, which was used by thousands of fans to attend matches played at the Santiago Bernabéu during the 1960s and 1970s.
