Benzema becomes Real Madrid's third-highest LaLiga goalscorer

His goal against Sevilla sees the Frenchman move onto 217 in the league to eclipse Di Stéfano.

Karim Benzema found the net at the Sánchez-Pizjuán to move out on his own as the Real Madrid's third top goalscorer in LaLiga history. The French forward has now hit a total of 217 goals in the championship to overtake the 216 scored by Alfredo Di Stéfano. Ahead of him now sit only Raúl, who scored 228, and Cristiano Ronaldo, with 312.

Benzema, who is enjoying his most prolific season in front of goal having struck 39 times already this campaign, opened his madridista account back on matchday three of the 2009/10 LaLiga season against Xerez and has since gone on to win it all with the club. His incredible trophy haul boasts 20 titles: 4 Champions Leagues,Club World Cups,European Super Cups, 3 LaLigas,Copas del Rey and 4 Spanish Super Cups.

His goal against Sevilla means Benzema has now scored 25 times in the league so far this season, his best-ever return in the domestic championship. His previous LaLiga record came back in 2015/16 when he hit 24.
