Real Madrid C. F. would like to announce that Colonel José Antonio Mellado Valverde of the Guardia Civil has been appointed as the new Director of Security at Real Madrid.
José Antonio Mellado Valverde was previously head of the Division against Organised Crime at the Centre for Intelligence against Terrorism and Organised Crime (CITCO), which forms part of the Secretariat of State for Security of the Ministry of the Interior.

His previous posts include head of the International Cooperation Department of the Technical Unit of the Judicial Police of the Guardia Civil (2013-2020), Interior Attaché at the Spanish Embassy in Washington DC, accredited in the United States and Canada (2009-2013) and head of the International Police Cooperation Area of the Secretary of State for Security (2006-2009).

His numerous awards include several Silver Crosses and Crosses of Merit of the Guardia Civil, the United Nations Medal (2005), the Medal of Honour, Silver category, of the French National Police (2017), the Medal of Honour of the Criminal Police and Interpol, Major Pedro Alejandro Rojas, of the National Police of Colombia (2017) and the Medal of Honour, Silver category, of the Public Security of the Guarda Nacional Republicana of Portugal (2018).

José Antonio Mellado Valverde replaces Julio Cendal as Director of Security.
