Real Madrid Castilla slipped to defeat away at Linares (1-0) on matchday 14 of the Primera RFEF. The academy side carved out several chances to score, but the hosts broke the deadlock in the 79th minute to seal the victory. Castilla were the first side to go close when Arribas found himself one-on-one with Ernestas, but he was denied by the goalkeeper.
Linares almost opened the scoring when Carnicer’s headed from a corner was cleared off the line by the Madrid defence on 6’. The hosts continued to pose a threat and Meléndez’s effort narrowly missed the target. Dotor then fired a shot from the edge of the area, but his strike was turned away by the keeper. On the half-hour mark, the Andalusians twice went close in quick succession, but they failed to hit the target on both occasions. On the stroke of half-time, Ernestas did well to save a shot from Latasa, after Marvin had won back possession near the hosts’ area.
Linares break the deadlock
Shortly after the re-start, Castilla carved out their best chance of the clash, when a through ball into the box by Peter found Arribas, but the forward couldn’t find a way past the home goalie. The visitors continued to pile on the pressure and on 59’ Latasa headed over the crossbar. Linares soon responded as Nando nodded over a loose ball inside the area. The game was now an end-to-end affair, and Latasa thought he had scored for the hosts but failed to do so from point-blank range. 11 minutes from full-time, the hosts finally found a way past Fuidias when Sanchidrián fired the ball in after a poor clearance in defence. Raúl’s side went in search of an equaliser, but the hosts saw it out to secure the win.
