"We got the away goal and kept a clean sheet but we still have to play the second leg and the tie is far from over”, he reflected.
In a virtual press conference, Zinedine Zidane analysed his side’s victory against Atalanta (0-1) at the Stadio di Bergamo, in the first leg of the Champions League Last-16: “I don't know if the sending off was decisive. The referee made the decision. We didn't play a particularly good game because we played 10 against 11. Ultimately, scoring an away goal is very important for us. It doesn't mean anything because we still have the second leg. Atalanta are strong, physical and very good defensively. Today's result is good for us”.

“It was an uncomfortable match because we didn't find the spaces. When you play against ten, you play against ten. The most important thing for us is the result. This match won't happen again. We scored an away goal and kept a clean sheet, but there is still the second leg and the tie isn't over yet. We'll have to put on a great match in Madrid”.

The winning goal
“It’s off the training ground. Mendy wasn’t the one who was supposed to shoot, but in the end he did and it worked out great. He has a stronger shot with his right foot, but more precision with his left”.

It’s off the training ground. Mendy wasn’t the one who was supposed to shoot, but in the end he did and it worked out great.

“The plan changed. Knowing they were playing three at the back, we looked for Isco to move between the lines so we could then try and use Vinicius Jr. and Asensio’s pace in behind. Then it turned into a different game, it was a good outcome for us despite not being a great performance”.

Isco
“He’s our player. He played today, although he hasn’t been involved too much lately, especially not in the starting line-up. We know what he can do and whenever he plays, he gives it everything he’s got. He did a good job for over an hour”.

Adversity
“We’ll just keep doing what we’re doing. It’s true we have a lot of injuries at the moment but the guys who we’ve got available are doing a great job, particularly in defence. They’re all fully committed. When we make changes, we’re still doing things well. We struggled a bit in an attacking sense today but I’m pleased with everyone’s efforts, we have to keep it up”.
