"Our destiny's in our own hands and it's another cup final against Shakhtar", declared the coach.
Zinedine Zidane spoke to the media on the eve of the team’s Champions League group stage Matchday 5 encounter against Shakhtar Donetsk (6:55pm CET). The boss previewed the meeting against the Ukrainian outfit in the following terms: “Our destiny is in our own hands and we've got another cup final tomorrow night. We've got two cup finals to come in the Champions League and tomorrow's is the most important game in the group because these three points could see us progress to the next round. That has to be our sole focus”.

“I can clearly see the players’ desire, but there have been some very strange things going on, such as injuries and our preparation has been different. All of that influences things, but the players’ desire will always be there at this club. It's impossible not to feel that desire. The players know where they are and what it means to play for Real Madrid. We’ll always have that desire. Whilst you can put in a poor performance, the desire is another thing and that will always be there at Real Madrid”.

“He's really strong and has always shown that. It's just another injury to him and it's unfortunate for him and for us. These things are happening to many teams and you just have to put up with it. He’s strong and I've got no doubt about what kind of player he is and what he wants to achieve here. He's having a bad time of things and we're going to help him to feel OK and improve”.

I've got no doubt about what kind of player Hazard is and what he wants to achieve here.

“It's a tough situation for Eden. We’re looking forward to seeing him and to get him back and playing with us. Never before in his career had he been injured. I'm sure he’ll come back even stronger, but tomorrow's is an important game and that's all we’re concerned about right now”.

Lack of consistency in results
“We're failing to find our consistency. There have always been tough times at Real Madrid, but the club has always overcome them. That's the most important thing”.

“We have to stop talking about what he has to do and just let him play. We know all about his quality and the only thing that he has to do is rediscover his form, but, little by little, we’ll start to see the best of Marco because he had a serious injury and has had another one this season”.

“I'm pleased with him. He's doing well and is very much part of the set-up. He has to be ready for whenever he gets called upon. I'm very pleased with how he's doing”.

Change in attitude in press conferences?
“I'm no different. I'm just the same and I won't be changing. We get by with what we got and I won't ever change at all. You might notice that I'm sometimes more serious, but I won’t spot anything different about me”.
