Zidane: “We've got lots of great players to allow us to rotate"

“Cádiz are well disciplined and we want to put on a good display and take the three points", said the coach.
Zinedine Zidane spoke to the media in an online press conference prior to this weekend's LaLiga clash with Cádiz at the Alfredo Di Stéfano (Saturday, 6:30pm CEST): "Cádiz are a very disciplined side who have just come up. I'm sure they'll make life very hard for us but we know every game is difficult in LaLiga, even the newly promoted sides because the Spanish Second Division is extremely competitive. We have to be well prepared"

"We know how hard the game will be and we'll do our best to come out on top. We want to put on a good display and take all three points. We've been without 14 players for 12 days but we're training well and everyone has come back healthy. That's the most important thing. Now we've got a run of 7 matches close together and we're ready for it".

Busy schedule and rotation
“It's a very long season and we need to rotate. We've got lots of good players to be able to switch things around. Our players never get any rest, they never stop. They went away with their national teams and now there's a run of 7 games coming up. After that, they'll go away for another international break and come back to another load of games. We've already shown we can win things despite that but everyone has to be ready to rotate”.

Playing without fans
"We'd rather play in front of the fans. It's always been the case and it's normal. The situation is what it is. I don't think the absence of fans favours us in terms of conceding goals, we adapt to the circumstances. If the fans come back, it'd be better, but if not we have to get used to playing without them".

The importance of his role
"You're there to talk about what is happening with Real Madrid. I try and do things to 100% of my ability. I know this job, this club, where I have been for almost 19 years, and what it means to coach Real Madrid. Being at Real Madrid is the best thing that's ever happened to me and I know I'll be judged with every game".

Being at Real Madrid is the best thing that's happened to me.

“I feel appreciated because I'm coaching the Real Madrid first team, which is a hugely important responsibility and something which won't last forever. Everything I do, I put in 2,000% and I enjoy being with my players every day. I'm lucky enough to be with them and enjoy doing what I love, which is football. I'm in the role now and I'm going to make the most of it until my final day”.

“He can play in several positions. He's a very good player now and has a great future. His preferred position is on the right and we try to put him there. The most important thing for him is to progress and feel valued. He knows he's an important part of this squad. We're a big group and I'll be counting on everyone. The key thing is to be prepared and to do a good job when called upon”.

“I have three goalkeepers available and we'll work out how to handle it. They have to be ready and perform well”.

“He's a Real Madrid player and I requested him. Anyone is entitled to their opinion about him and I won't get involved, but to speak nonsense is not appropriate now”.

Ødegaard and Haaland with Norway
“I saw the games and Martin played a different role to what he does for Real Madrid. I'm pleased and when my players go away with their national sides, I like them to play. Haaland isn't my player but he's very good”.

Borja Mayoral's comments
“I speak to my players, but they are private conversations and will stay between us. I always try and be honest with them and everyone can say whatever they like. The group who are here are the ones fighting for a place and that's all I'm concerned with”.

“There are lots of rumours linking Real Madrid to lots of different players but that won't have an effect on the dressing room. The transfer window has closed and we have a team that will fight for everything up for grabs. That's what we're going to try and do”.
