"The best thing about this squad is our togetherness and quality", the midfielder told Real Madrid Conecta.
Federico Valverde took centre stage on the latest edition of the Real Madrid Conecta show. The Whites’ midfielder spoke about the latest news from within the camp and reflected on a good start to the LaLiga campaign: “We’re excited to be returning to the Alfredo Di Stéfano and will be looking to pick up a win to bring back the special memories from last season”.

“We’re really pleased with the win over Betis, but we’ve got to take things one game at a time. It was a really tough match against opponents who are very strong and have some quality players. We managed to perform really well and apply pressure when the gaffer asked us to and we've now got to turn our attention to Wednesday and go out and look to get another win”.

Opening his account for the season
“Scoring gives you a really special feeling of joy and that motivation to continue improving. I enjoy giving my all out there and my job is to run, help the team and keep working until my legs can't take anymore. I dedicated the goal to a lot of people because I don't get many. I dedicated it to my wife, my son, my mum and my brother, who was celebrating his birthday”.

The squad’s strengths
“The best thing about this squad is the togetherness and the quality, of which there’s plenty within this team. We've got players who’ve won everything going and they’re role models for the youngsters because they still want to win it all. Watching them train hard is a great motivator”.

We all look to achieve the same objective and pull in the same direction and that makes us stronger.

“Our togetherness is our biggest strength because we all support each other and that will work in our favour. The fact that we look to achieve the same objective and all pull in the same direction makes us stronger. They all offer me loads of help. The rivalry within the team is really special. We compete, but there’s a good vibe that makes you better.  When teammates who’ve won so much silverware within the world game come and give me advice and help me it really fills me with joy, pride and makes me a better player”.

Pass accuracy of 92% against Betis
“Over time, I'm  improving and getting stronger.  That's one side of my game that I’m working on. As well as running, you’ve got to try to provide your teammates with the best possible passes”.

Job in the middle third
“Nowadays it's not enough just to leave it to the forwards to do all they can to score. We need to attack and defend and if we can help them out by scoring, then that’s welcome. Our job is to do our bit so that Real Madrid win”.

"Zidane encourages me to get into the box because I've got the physical attributes to do so. I try to listen to what he tells me because it’s for my own good. I have to change the things that the gaffer wants me to and continue to improve”.
