"I didn't expect anything like this, I'm very happy to be playing for this club", said the striker, who has scored 243 goals.
Karim Benzema continues to make history in the Real Madrid jersey. With his brace against Valencia, the Frenchman has scored 243 goals in his 503 matches as a Real Madrid player. That is more than Puskas' 242 goals, making him the club's fifth highest scorer in history. The striker expressed his satisfaction at reaching this figure: "I didn't imagine anything like this, I'm very happy. I've been working for a long time now and I always put it in to keep improving. I hope I can keep going. I'm very happy to be playing for this club".
"It wasn't an easy game due to the opposition who made it hard, but we won and didn't concede. It's very important because Valencia are a very good team. For the second goal everything happened so fast. It was a cross from Marco, I control it, I shot with the left foot and it went in. It looks easy, but you have to do it so fast".
Hazard connection
"The connection is that he's a great player who knows how to play one touch and move around the field. In training we play one and two touches and I really like it".
"I'm really happy and glad for him because he's worked hard. He’s looked in good shape for a month now, I hope he stays that way".

It wasn't an easy game, but we won and didn't concede.

Benzema's next challenge is to pass another Madrid legend: Santillana, who scored 290 goals. In the top three are Di Stefano, Raul and Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored 308, 323 and 451 goals respectively.
Equals Hugo Sánchez's record in the league
As for his statistics in LaLiga, Benzema has equaled Hugo Sanchez's record as a Madrid player in this competition. Both have scored 164 goals and occupy the fifth position in the list of the top scorers for the club in the league. Ahead of them are Santillana (186), Di Stéfano (216), Raúl (228) and Cristiano Ronaldo (312).
