The Whites have led the standings since the end of the 2013/14 campaign.

Real Madrid lie top of the UEFA club coefficient rankings as they prepare to open their participation in the Champions League round of 16. The Whites, who have led the way in the standings since the end of the 2013/14 season, have amassed 34,000 points. Sitting behind the madridistas are Barcelona (123,000), Atlético Madrid (123,000), Bayern Munich (121,000), Juventus (115,000), Manchester City (110,000), PSG (102,000), Liverpool (99,000), Arsenal (91,000) and Manchester United (88,000).

Real Madrid embarked on a cycle of glory in 2014 in Lisbon, where the Whites saw off Atlético in a 4-1 win to lift the club's Décima. Two years later, the iconic team captured the Undécima in Milan after once again overcoming Atlético, on this occasion following a penalty shootout. The club's Duodécima followed in 2017, after a 4-1 triumph over Juventus in Cardiff, before the madridistas clinched the Decimotercera the following season, courtesy of a 3-1 victory against Liverpool in Kiev. Zinedine Zidane guided the team to these three successive Champions League crowns.
