"Besides the result, the positives were the football we played and our intensity levels", declared Lucas.
Real Madrid got the better of Girona at the Bernabéu as Ramos netted a brace: “The tie is still very much open. We picked up a good result and we would have liked to keep a clean sheet but that just shows there's no easy teams in this competition. We already saw it from Girona against Atlético, but we've taken a big step in the right direction and now we have to go there and finish the job”.
“They hurt us with their two up front who have got so much pace but we controlled it better in the second half and we were fortunate in front of goal. I hope we can continue this positive run of results”.
Karim is a wonderful player, he really unsettles defenders and that's crucial for us. He'll always be a key player, he presses really well and works hard on the defensive side of the game, which is just as important as scoring goals”.

“The important thing is to win games and everyone has a role to play in that. He can help us by getting on the scoresheet and he's always stepped up when we've needed him”.
“It's a great spell for me personally and in terms of morale but we mustn't get complacent".

Odriozola: "Although they scored twice, it's still a good result".

"I was really pleased to get the goals because we were under the cosh and restoring our lead was a positive".
Lucas: "The positives were the football we played and our intensity"
"We come away with good vibes. The team went out and displayed good intensity from start to finish. Besides the result, the positives were the football we played and how lively we were. We've got to work hard to keep that up. The keys to tonight's display were the desire to win and deliver a good performance and put on a show for the fans. We head home happy. In the return leg, we'll have to go out and treat it as if the first leg ended 0-0 and produce a big performance if we're to progress".
"It was a really quick break. Karim got in behind, Odriozola took two touches and I knew that he'd send it over to the back post".

Odriozola: "We gave a very good account of ourselves"
"I'm really happy to have been able to do my bit for the team. On a collective level, it was a rollercoaster ride, but you've got to recognise the work put in by the team. We gave a very good account of ourselves and although they scored twice, it's still a good result. We'll be going there to win and won't be taking any chances".
"The team has always put the work in, we've been giving 100% and hard work is the secret to success in football. There can be no doubt about the quality of the players and if the desire is there, we're capable of achieving whatever we want and we'll be going all out. On a personal level, I'm feeling ever more confident and more settled in the group. Over time, you build up a better understanding with the players and their quality makes things straightforward".

“He's one of a kind and he's doing everything that's asked of him. He gets in behind well and he's doing a fantastic job, particularly defensively. He's an important player for us and we hope he can keep up his good form”.
Penalty on Modric
“He told me it was a penalty. I didn't see it so I can't comment but Madrid are above discussing referees and we have to avoid focussing on those things and concentrate on the work we're doing every day”.
