"Modric has had a wonderful year and he's given everything to Madrid and his national team", said the coach.
Santiago Solari spoke in the press room at Real Madrid City ahead of the round of 32 match against Melilla: "All players in the squad, plus the guys from the Castilla squad who can play are working with intensity, enthusiasm and they’re excited. That's what we all want to see out on the field against Melilla".
"The first leg was very good because we put in a very good performance with a good attitude and intensity, against a team that play very good football and are top of their group in Segunda B. That division is very underestimated and there are teams that play very good football".

"It's Modric's year. The focus has to be on him. He’s had a wonderful year and he’s given everything to Real Madrid and his national team. It comes at a time of maturity in his career. It seems to me that at that age it’s more beautiful because he can truly value it. We’re all very happy with his prize".
"There are games throughout the season that give chances for the youngsters, who come pushing for a place from below. Historically this club has always had players from the academy in the team. Since 2000, when I arrived, the focus has been on the academy, the facilities and the people who work on the development side. I’ve had the fortune to have done it and it’s a very hard, anonymous job which isn’t always appreciated because the results aren’t seen immediately. The results at this club can be translated in to numbers. There are 11 players in the squad that have been through the academy and there are 90 players in the first and second division that have been a part of Real Madrid’s academy".
