Real Madrid are world champions for the seventh time in history. The Whites beat Al Ain at Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi and rounded off the year with another title. Goals from ModricMarcos LlorenteSergio Ramos and Nader, who scored an own goal saw the madridistas enter the history books for winning the Club World Cup for three consecutive years.

It was a frenetic opening half hour and after just four minutes Real Madrid hit the post. Marcos Llorente crossed in from the left and the ball hit Ismail Ahmed, who then tipped it towards his own goal in an attempt to clear it. He hit the post in doing so Al Ain had a clearer chance just nine minutes later. Hussein El Shahat beat Courtois in the one-on-one and it was down to Ramos to save the day. The captain stopped the ball on the line.

Golden finish from Modric
That was to be the only real moment of danger from the Abu Dhabi side in the first half, but this only served to spur on the European Champions, who did not squander their next chances. Benzema controlled the ball on the edge of the box with his back to goal, then passed it to Modric to turn on the attacking quality on 14’. The best player in the world controlled the ball and scored with his left. No guesses as to how he won so many plaudits this year.

REAL MADRID ARE THE FIRST TEAM to win the Club World Cup for three consecutive years.

The Whites were already ahead and could have extend their lead in the 17th minute. Carvajal crossed and Lucas Vázquez's shot from the penalty spot missed the target by centimetres. From then on goalkeeper Khalid Eisa was the star, keeping his team in the game until the break. Bale linked up once more with Marcelo on 21', but the keeper kept it out. In the 39th minute a Kroos corner was met by a Bale header but he couldn’t beat Eisa.

Second half
Real Madrid came out after the break and looked to make a statement and were close to getting another in the opening minutes. Spectacular play from Modric with 50 on the clock as he pulled it back for Bale who’s spectacular over-head kick was unfortunate not to hit the target. Three minutes later the Welshman crossed and Benzema grazed the post with a first time effort.

The Whites got the second after 60 minutes, their just reward. Kroos took a corner and Marcos Llorente took advantage of the rebound to make it 2-0 with a spectacular volley from the edge of the area. A great goal and the first in an official match for the youth-team graduate. Real Madrid looked to take a step closer to the title five minutes later, but Eisa kept Bale out again. The team from Abu Dhabi had the chance to get one back but Courtois denied Caio after 74 minutes.

Ramos bullet header
The minutes passed and Sergio Ramos stepped up with his usually goal at the Club World Cup. Modric took the corner after 78' and the captain smashed the ball in to the net with an unstoppable header. Four minutes from time Shiotani pulled one back and in added time Nader scored an own goal after a Vinicius Jr. shot, making it 4-1 at full time. Real Madrid end another year as world champions.
