NEWS | 29/06/2018The Whites' youth-team graduate bids farewell to his childhood club as he embarks on a new adventure in the NBA.
Doncic bids farewell to Real Madrid following a six-year stay which has been full of successes since he made his Infantil debut back in 2012 at Rome's Torneo Internacional Lido. His rise has been a meteoritic one, the kind rarely seen in European and world basketball as he has moved steadily up through the ranks. He turned out for the Infantil, Cadete, Júnior and EBA teams in the same season and has enjoyed campaigns that have delivered numerous titles and individual distinctions. He came to prominence at youth level in May 2015, when he lifted the Junior EuroLeague trophy and scooped the competition's MVP award.
At that stage, Luka was already combining training with his teammates with sessions with the first team, with whom he went on to make history by securing five titles in a single season. He was a part of that roster and had a hand in the feat, with Pablo Laso handing him his first-team debut on 30 April 2015, which saw him become the Whites' youngest-ever league debutant. This was just a further page in the book of achievements written by Donic with the club of his dreams.
Impressive trophy haul
Doncic bids farewell having made 216 appearances for Real Madrid and boasting an impressive trophy haul for a player who last February celebrated his 19th birthday: one EuroLeague, one Intercontinental, three league crowns, two Copas del Rey, three MVPs this season (Final Four, EuroLeague and Regular League), whilst he has twice been named the Euroleague's Rising Star. He has conquered Europe and now it's time for him to repeat the feat in the NBA.
