"It's the biggest competition in the world and to score that goal with an overhead kick, it's a dream come true", declared the Welsh forward.
Gareth Bale was voted as Man of the Match by the UEFA technical team in the Champions League final played at the Olimpiyskiy stadium in Kiev. The Welshman, who came on in the second half, got the winning goals with a spectacular over-head kick just three minutes after his introduction and another from outside the area in the 83rd minute.

In the press conference following the final, Bale stated: "It's a result that was about much more than just eleven players. We've achieved something really significant, three titles in a row. We've had a great end to the season. We came into the game feeling up for it, were ready and raring to go".

Overhead kick
"It's the best goal I've ever scored. It's the biggest competition in the world and to score this goal in the final, it's a dream come true. I've never scored an overhead kick and I've always dreamed of doing so".

"Marcelo crossed it in and the ball was at the perfect height, I tried it and it was amazing to see the ball go in, how it rippled the back of the net. For the second, I hit it with a lot of dip to try and make it tough for the goalie and it's a shame he spilled it like that".

Starting on the bench
"I was downhearted, disappointed not to start, but the team is about more than the starting line-up. When I came on, I gave it my all for the team. You never expect these kinds of things to happen to you, it's a dream come true. The key thing is that we defended the title and we're going home with the Champions League".
