The former Real Madrid forward opened his account for the club in the derby meeting with Atlético in the 1994/95 campaign. In this week's Historic Goals feature we relive one of the derby's crowning moments: Raúl's first goal in a Real Madrid shirt. A brilliant moment in the career of a club legend, who is Real Madrid's all-time record appearance-maker and second top goalscorer.
After making his bow in the previous matchday at La Romareda, Raúl graced the Bernabéu pitch for the first time against Atlético. On 5 Novemeber 1994, the Whites claimed the derby spoils, running out 4-2 winners. As for the goal in question, Michael Laudrup broke quickly on the counter before finding Raúl inside the box with a pass played with the outside of his boot and the forward slotted home a first-time finish into the top corner. The Whites went on to take the LaLiga title in that campaign.

Raúl joined the club's youth set-up in the 1992/93 season and it wasn't long before Jorge Valdano handed him his first-team debut. He was a member of the first-team squad for 16 years, during which time he racked up 741 appearances, scored 323 goals and lifted 16 titles: three European Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, a UEFA Super Cup, six LaLiga crowns and four Spanish Super Cups.
