The Real Madrid striker collects the accolade for a second successive year.
Cristiano Ronaldo has received the Quinas de Oro award as the best Portuguese player in 2017. The Real Madrid frontman overcome competition from Manchester City's Bernardo Silva and Sporting CP goalkeeper Rui Patricio in the voting, which sees coaches, players and fans have their say. Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scooped this prize for a second successive year, was on hand to collect the trophy at the Portuguese football gala held on Monday at Lisbon's Pavilhão Carlos Lopes.
This latest distinction takes its place alongside the other accolades he picked up in what was a stunning 2017, which notably saw him clinch the Ballon d'Or and the The Best award. It was a year in which he again scored over 50 goals (42 in a Real Madrid shirt and 11 for Portugal), whilst he lifted five pieces of silverware with the Whites: LaLiga, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, the Spanish Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
"It was an unforgettable year on a personal and individual level, and a historic year for Real Madrid", he said after collecting the award from UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin.

Quinas de Oro gala ceremony
Organised by the Portuguese Football Federation, the Association of Football Coaches and the Players' Union, the Quinas de Oro gala recognised the efforts of the top performing Portuguese men and women in football, futsal and beach soccer in 2017, both within Portugal and aboard. In the gala's inaugural edition, which took place in 2015 to mark the Portuguese Federation's 100th anniversary, Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded the distinction as the greatest player in the country's history.
