Zidane: "LaLiga is our bread and butter and we're focused on the Betis game"

"We've got five LaLiga games before the Champions League return leg and they're all important ones", insisted the Real Madrid coach.
Zinedine Zidane took to the media room at Real Madrid City on the eve of his side's clash against Betis. The Whites' boss previewed the encounter in the following terms: "We're used to playing in different competitions. We performed very well the other night and now we've got to focus on our bread and butter, which is LaLiga. We haven't had many days to rest up but that's just the way it goes. We're now just thinking about doing a good job tomorrow. Our focus is on LaLiga".

"Betis are a very good side and are very strong on their own patch. We know how tough it's going to be but we've got our own weapons. We want to put in a good display and we're readying ourselves to deliver a good performance. The side that I put out tomorrow will be what I consider to be the most competitive one".

Five LaLiga fixtures before PSG game
"The best way to prepare for the PSG game is by performing really well in our LaLiga games. We've got five games ahead of us and we're going to need the whole squad more than ever. It's in my interests that they're all ready to play. We've got five games before the PSG match and I want my players to give their all, just as they are doing".

"Sometimes things don't go for you. We haven't been playing badly, apart from the Copa del Rey game at home to Leganés. Even so, we'll be trying to do better and I have real respect for my players because they always try their best. We've got to cut down on the errors as much as possible because if we do so, we'll be more effective, regardless of who we're up against. We have to be more consistent in terms of our performance levels and avoid those small mistakes".

We need the whole squad more than ever.

"I trust in every member of the squad. We've got a lot of games coming up and we're going to need everyone. I want all of my players to be ready and they are. We played well against PSG but it was just one game. We've got the return leg to come and five LaLiga games before then. It was a good team performance and that was what made all the difference. That win changes everything because it means that we're virtually not going to be able to train. We can now only focus on recovering and being ready for each game".

Marcelo's goal dedication
"It's very nice to see a player come over and dedicate a goal to me. I know exactly how things work in a dressing room because I was a player for 18 years. I like that connection and it's what I'm looking for: a good vibe between everyone. I thank the players for what they've said. One day it might be Marcelo, the next (Luka) Modric or Sergio (Ramos) or Cristiano Ronaldo… it's really nice and I'm grateful for it. It's really good to see that my players understand my messages and I really like that. They're a very honest bunch".

Bale not starting against PSG
"It was a decision that was made and what I want is for all of them to be ready and they were the other night. I wanted to set up in a diamond because I thought that was the best way to play against PSG. We've got a lot of games coming up and I'll need to call on all of them".

Praise for Cristiano Ronaldo
"He's one of those players that you can simply never question. He only needs a few chances to hurt the opposition and we know that. There's a long way to go this season and he'll be there all the way".

His own future
"The most important thing is our daily work and I'm not looking any further ahead. I want to get to the end of the season. I'm only bothered about what's at stake and I don't want to and am not interested in talking about anything else. This role is a very wearing one and all the more so at Real Madrid. There may come a time when changes must be made for everyone's benefit. Now isn't the time to be talking about this, because the important thing is the here and now".

"Every time you end up asking me about a different player but we're all pulling in the same direction. I'm the one who makes the decisions and it's a difficult job to name my starting line-up and leave seven of them on the bench and three or four at home. The players are ready to play when they have to. In every team there are always some players that play more than others but Marco is important for us".
