NEWS | 05/12/2017 | Alberto Navarro | PHOTOGRAPHER: Ángel Martínez“Dortmund have a lot to play for but we won't consider our opponent's position“, said the Real Madrid coach.
“I think my team look in good shape but it's true we have to score more goals. The situation is not ideal in LaLiga because we're eight points behind and that's for a reason, but I'm relaxed about it because I'm sure that's going to change. We're playing ok and I don't care what people are saying on the outside".
Criticism of the team
"I see things that other people don't. I'd urge madridismo not to forget what this team has achieved. Others, people who are nothing to do with Real Madrid, they can have their opinions. I can't change what people think, I'm not bothered by it. It's the way it goes in this job. Hard work is the only way to get out of this situation in LaLiga and find the goals again. We'll keep working at it and I'm sure we'll be there or thereabouts at the end".
Working on finishing
"We work on it, yes, but it's a matter of finding solutions to create more chances and that's that. That's football and sometimes these runs come up. When we played Málaga, Las Palmas or APOEL away, we scored goals. We're not doing it consistently enough, but we'll keep going until it clicks".
“We have to give Cristiano Ronaldo a bit more support and show more respect, but he’s fine. He’s so good that when things aren’t going quite so well for him, people start to talk. The people who love him and Real Madrid know what he’s doing: he’s working hard until the goals start flowing again. Last season he did a phenomenal job. It’s a long season and we’re only halfway there. Write Cristiano Ronaldo off at your peril”.
Duel with Messi for the Ballon d’Or
“It’s true that you look at his statistics and they’re just incredible, but both he and Messi are amazing and they both make each other better. This battle will be around for a long time yet”.
“I don’t know, we’ll see if he can play against Sevilla. He still hasn’t trained with us. He’s out on the pitch doing bits, but not alongside the team. First he has to train with the group, but he’ll certainly be coming to Abu Dabi”.
Champions League draw
“There’s no easy draw in the Champions League not matter whether you finish first or second. Whoever we get, it’ll be tough, and it’s set to be a fantastic and challenging knock-out round”.
“I love football and watching every game, but my team aren’t involved. I’m only concerned with my team and how we’re doing. Atlético are a significant rival, but may the best team win, as always”.
“We’ve not decided yet”.
The World Cup
“It was a good draw for France and I think they’ll get through easily, just like Spain”.
