Real Madrid have had their most successful year ever as they won the Club World Cup, LaLiga, the Champions League and UEFA & Spanish Super Cups.
Historic. There is no other way of describing 2017 as it draws to a close. This is the first time that Real Madrid have won five titles in a year. The Club World Cup, which they won in Abu Dhabi against Gremio following a Cristiano Ronaldo free-kick, is the latest trophy on the list. That list of trophies won started way back in May as the Whites won LaLiga, followed by la Duodécima in June and then in August with the UEFA & Spanish Super Cups.

The closest the Whites had come to the historic feat in the past was in 2014, when they clinched La Décima, the Club World Cup, the European Super Cup and the Copa del Rey. As for winning three titles in the same year, this has been achieved on four previous occasions. The first came back in 1957, when they got their hands on the European Cup, LaLiga and the Latin Cup.

In 1989 the Whites were champions of LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup. In 2002, the Whites’ trophy cabinet was blessed by La Novena, the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup. Lastly, in 2016, came the Champions League, the European Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
