A minute's silence in memory of Araquistáin
A minute's silence was observed at the Bernabéu before the Real Madrid vs. Villarreal match.
The Bernabéu observed a minute's silence before the start of the match between Real Madrid and Villarreal in memory of José Araquistáin, one of the legendary goalkeepers in our club's history, who passed away last Sunday at the age of 88.
Araquistáin defended the Real Madrid colours for seven seasons, from 1961 to 1968, during which time he won one European Cup, six League titles and one Spanish Cup. He was the goalkeeper for the sixth European Cup, which Real Madrid won in Brussels in 1966. In the 1961-62 season, he won the Zamora Trophy. Our players will wear black armbands.
