OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT.

Real Madrid C.F., its president and Board of Directors, would like to express their deepest regrets at the death of José Araquistáin, one of the greatest goalkeepers in our history.
Real Madrid would like to express its condolences and affection to his family, teammates and all his loved ones.
Araquistáin defended the Real Madrid colours in 97 matches over seven seasons, from 1961 to 1968, during which time he won one European Cup, six League titles and one Spanish Cup.
He was the goalkeeper for the sixth European Cup win, which Real Madrid won in Brussels in 1966.
In the 1961-62 season, he was the winner of the Zamora Trophy.
Araquistáin was an international with Spain and was part of the Spanish national team that participated in the World Cup in Chile (1962).
José Araquistáin has passed away at the age of 88. Real Madrid extends its condolences to all Madrid fans. May he rest in peace.
