Thibaut Courtois spoke at the end of the Spanish Super Cup final: “We had a good game, especially in the second half, and it's never nice to lose a final against your rivals. We're sad today and tomorrow we'll have to train for the cup game on Wednesday, for the league and to carry on. In the second half, we deserved to win, but the details went a bit against us today. In the last few months, we've been in a period where things aren't going the way they should and that's the reality. Today we showed that we're a spirited team, especially in the second half, and we certainly could have won.”

“In the first half, we were perhaps a bit too enclosed. In the second half we showed more and they dropped off physically, as is normal, because it was so hot. We had chances but they didn't go in. They all ended up in Joan's hands and that's kind of the summary of today's game. We have to keep fighting. With the attitude we showed today and the other day, I'm sure we'll win something.”

“We have complete confidence in him. He's a great player and we know he's capable of doing that. He showed it again today. He's a kid with a lot of talent and quality. His goal was an amazing one and the whole game he was a nightmare for them. Maybe we didn't take advantage of him as much as we should have. He had a great game and hopefully we can take the positives from it despite the defeat. We have three or four very important games for us in January and let's see if we can win them.”
