Uruguay sealed their place at the 2026 World Cup after a 3-0 victory over Peru at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.
Fede Valverde started and played the full match for his team, who took the lead in the first half courtesy of Rodrigo Aguirre's goal in the 14th minute. After the interval, Uruguay doubled their lead with goals from Giorgian de Arrascaeta ('58) and Federico Viñas ('80).
With this victory, the Uruguayan national team reached 27 points in the standings and mathematically assured their place in the upcoming World Cup.
