La Liga 2025-26 gets underway for Real Madrid CastillaArbeloa's players face Lugo this evening in the first match of Group 1 of Primera Federación (7:15pm CEST). Our first reserve team returns to play a league match at the Di Stéfano 103 days later, the last one being a victory against Fuenlabrada on 15 May, on matchday 37 of the previous championship.

Castilla will be looking to maintain the positive feelings they had during the pre-season, in which they beat Marbella (0-4), Racing de Ferrol (1-2), and Ibiza (2-1); drew against Valencia Mestalla (1-1)  and Alcorcón (1-1); and lost to Second Division side Andorra. It will be the first official match for Arbeloa as the new coach of the reserve team and also for the new additions to the team, such as Rachad, who was the top scorer of the pre-season with 5 goals.

Lugo
For their part, our opponents arrive at the start of Primera Federación having played six warm-up games, in which they have two wins, two draws and two defeats. In their last match, they beat Ourense 1-0 away.
