On 17 June 2007, Real Madrid secured their 30th league title. The Whites claimed the championship on the final matchday and, in typical Madrid fashion, they did so after a dramatic comeback. Fabio Capello's men trailed Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabéu, but turned the game on its head in the second half courtesy of goals from Reyes 2 and Diarra 3-1. The head-to-head advantage over Barcelona settled a Championship that saw both teams finish with 76 points.
Real Madrid, who moved top of the table on matchday 34, lifted the LaLiga trophy on the back of a spectacular final stretch, where they won 10 out of 12 games. Additionally, this season is remembered for the many points and comebacks that were earned in the last few minutes. Van Nistelrooy was the league's top scorer with 25 goals.
