Official announcement: Xabier Azkargorta passes away

Real Madrid C.F., its president and its Board of Directors would like to express their deepest condolences on the passing of Xabier Azkargorta, one of the greatest coaches in the history of Spanish and international football.

Real Madrid would like to express its condolences and affection to his family, all his loved ones, and all the clubs he was a part of.

Azkargorta was director of Real Madrid's International Sports Schools between 2003 and 2005.

During his long career as a coach, he managed many teams in Spain, Bolivia, Chile, Japan and Mexico. He was also the national coach of Bolivia and Chile.

Xabier Azkargorta passed away at the age of 72. May he rest in peace.
