Official Announcement: the passing of Gabriel Masfurroll
OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT.

Real Madrid C.F., its president and its Board of Directors deeply regret the death of Gabriel Masfurroll, who was vice-president of F. C. Barcelona between 2000 and 2003, and a director of the club between 1988 and 1992.

Real Madrid would like to express its condolences and affection to his family and loved ones.

Gabriel Masfurroll was an example of generosity and solidarity throughout his life, and one of the most emblematic businessmen in the health sector in Spain. He always devoted himself with enthusiasm to his two great passions: sport and health.

At F.C. Barcelona, he was also vice-president of the Barça Foundation between 2010 and 2015.

As a sportsman, he stood out as an elite swimmer in the Barcelona Swimming Club and was part of the Spanish national team.
In the field of health, he is considered one of the leading figures in health and hospital management in Spain.

His marked philanthropic character always kept him linked to social and solidarity projects. He was one of the co-founders of the Catalan Down's Syndrome Foundation and, in 2006, he set up Mi Fundación Álex, in memory of his son who died at the age of three, also focused on working with people with Down's syndrome.

He was also president of the Laureus Foundation Spain between 2011 and 2019.

In 2008, he received the Creu de Sant Jordi in recognition of his professional career.

Gabriel Masfurroll passed away at the age of 72. May he rest in peace.
