Scariolo: "We played intelligently and bravely"
"It's to be applauded after an overnight trip, and having so many key players rotating or resting," underlined the coach.
Sergio Scariolo spoke to the press following our team's win over San Pablo Burgos (90-80) in their third League game: “We had three good quarters, and one, the second, was poor. But it was a potential banana skin against a team with a great coach and who had a full week to prepare the match. We played intelligently and bravely.”
Three-game week
"When you play fewer than forty hours after a defeat and an overnight trip, and having so many key players rotating or resting, this is to be applauded, so I've congratulated the players on that."
Rotation
"I'll try and listen as much as I can to the medical team and act on what they recommend. The goal is mid-to-long-term, to be in a good place when the key period of the competitions starts, not in October. We'll do it throughout the season because we don't want to overload players, or put them at risk of injury, nor do we want them underperforming at the key stage of the campaign. We have to take risks. Sometimes it won't pay off, but if the players understand it, as the majority have, we'll be able to share the load and have a squad in great condition come the decisive run of the season."
On Krämer
"He's a player who really complements the team, he actively helps the more experienced players in our squad. He looked fantastic and he has to learn to combine that energy, effort and desire, with high levels of focus to avoid making mistakes. We're thrilled with him."
