Chus Mateo named EuroLeague coach of the year
The Real Madrid coach scoops the award for the first time in his career.
Chus Mateo has been named EuroLeague coach of the year. The Real Madrid coach was honoured with the Alexander Gomelskiy Award, which is voted on by the coaches taking part in this competition. This trophy, which he has been awarded for the first time in his career, honours Chus Mateo for the outstanding Regular Season enjoyed by the Whites, which are now the team that has racked up the most victories in this phase in the history of the EuroLeague (27).
Final Four
Our coach, who lifted Real Madrid's eleventh European Cup crown in May 2023, will be looking for his second consecutive EuroLeague triumph over the weekend of the 24th-26th of this month. Real Madrid, who were the first to qualify for the Final Four, will contest the semi-finals against Olympiacos on Friday 24 May at the Uber Arena in Berlin (9pm CEST).
