Real Madrid-Mónaco: last Euroleague home game of the year
The Whites play their second consecutive game against French opposition in less than 48 hours tonight (8:45pm CET).
After winning in Paris on Tuesday, Real Madrid close their Euroleague double-header against French teams by hosting Monaco at the WiZink Center tonight. Los blancos, who play their last home game in the competition in 2024, will be looking for another win to continue climbing the table against an opponent that is on great form.
It will be another demanding game for Real Madrid tonight in the 17th round of the Euroleague. Monaco, like Paris Basketball, is very strong physically, runs a lot and has a talented offense, especially on the perimeter, where Mike James, Okobo, Lloyd or Diallo stand out. Our team will have to pay special attention to defensive balance and rebounding around the rim, two key aspects for their performance in the game. On the inside, Motiejunas and Papagiannis provide the height and the skill.
Real Madrid aim to be a force once again at the WiZink Center and recover their confidence in front of their home fans in the top continental competition. They are two of the teams that shoot the most three-pointers, almost 30 three-pointers per game, with a 35% success rate. Where the tie is broken is in the two-point shot, with Chus Mateo‘s team reaching a 60% success rate compared to 55% by their opponents. Hezonja (13.9 points), Campazzo (13.3), Musa (11.8) and Tavares (11) are our team's main points of reference in attack.
Recent rivalry
The first meeting between the two teams was just three years ago, on a visit from Monaco in October 2021 that ended in a 94-86 win for Madrid. Last year, Madrid also won 91-73 with Musa picking up 29 in PIR. After his injury, the Bosnian forward is returning to the excellent level he showed last season. Today will be the seventh chapter of a rivalry that is 4-2 in Madrid's favour.
