NEWS | 15/02/2020The initiative has been set up to mark International Childhood Cancer Day and supports the Real Madrid Foundation's children's basketball programme in hospitals.
Emilio Butragueño, director of institutional relations at Real Madrid, took part in the presentation of the scheme, which will benefit the Real Madrid Foundation's basketball programme run in hospitals for children with cancer.
The campaign invites under 14 to draw their own version of the Real Madrid crest. To enter, all they have to do is draw a crest, take a photo of it and share it on Instagram Stories with the #EscudosContraElCáncer hashtag and tag @solandecabras, whilst leaving a message of support for the children suffering from the illness. All of the funds rwill go to the Real Madrid Foundation's project, which seeks to ensure the emotional well-being of the child cancer sufferers by engaging in physical activity.
A jury will name the winner, who will take part in a clinic session at Real Madrid City. In addition, all entrants will be entered into a draw for the chance to enjoy an exclusive matchday experience at the Santiago Bernabéu. The partnership between Solán de Cabras and Real Madrid dates back to 2002 and in this instance the brand wished to help the club with this charity campaign.
Important role played by AECC
Butragueño highlighted the collaboration with the AECC (Spanish Association Against Cancer) and the work the association does, commenting: "The Real Madrid Foundation's children's basketball programme in hospitals is vital because it brings hope and motivates thousands of children in the oncology ward". Meanwhile, Jesús Núñez,the director general of Solán de Cabras, noted: "This campaign is part of the constant support Solán de Cabras offers in the battle against cancer, through our collaboration with the AECC and, on this occasion, the collaboration has been extended to the Foundation's children's programme"
