"The Real Madrid side we saw out there was one with real character, that pressed high up and controlled the play at what's a very tough to come to", he declared.
Sergio Ramos tonight sent another record tumbling as the Real Madrid skipper became the all-time leading Clásico appearance-maker (43 matches) following his involvement in the LaLiga clash between Barcelona and Real Madrid. The Seville-born defender, who was presented with a commemorative shirt by Florentino Pérez at the final whistle, has now surpassed the 42 El Clásico appearances made by SanchísGento, Xavi and Messi.
The captain reflected on the team's performance in the following terms: "Whenever you fail to win you can never come away feeling happy. It's always good to pick up points, but the Real Madrid side we saw out there was one with real character at what's a very difficult and one of the toughest places to come, against a team that'll always see a lot of the ball and we went and tried to get it off them in their half. That's what we were looking to do and we managed it. Despite not having won the game, we come away feeling happy".

"We controlled the play and created a few more chances than them. It's a difficult place to come to and it's never easy to get the ball off Barcelona. We applied the strategy of pressing them and looked to get the ball off them right from their goal kicks and it worked out pretty well. There'll always be that debate. We're going through a great spell in terms of performances and are looking very balanced where our fitness is concerned".

"It is a shame as it is the end of the year. hopefully we can continue this form after the holidays. we still have a game, against athletic, and we'll try to get three points”.

Two penalties
“We looked at half time, and it’s clearly two penalties, but you can’t change it. VAR is there t help and when there is any doubt you can check it. That wasn’t what happened so it’s tough luck. If we had a penalty they didn’t check it, that is what happens in football”.
Ramos, who has always made the starting line-up in El Clásico, has played a part in all of the Real Madrid v Barcelona games (29) since he checked in at the Whites 15 seasons ago. The four goals he has scored against Los Azulgranas have all come in this competition and all of them were headed efforts.
Other competitions
He has come up against Barcelona on seven occasions in the Copa del Rey. The Seville-born stopper has also racked up further Clásico appearances in the Spanish Super Cup (six) and the Champions League (one). His legacy with this fixture dates back to 19 November 2005 and the LaLiga Clásico played at the Santiago Bernabéu.
