Courtois: “We have to keep fighting, LaLiga is a long-run thing”

“We’ll pick ourselves up, keep working hard, and fight until the end”, said Lucas Vázquez.
Following the final whistle in the clash with Girona, Courtois spoke to the press to discuss the performance: “We played well in the first half, but the pace was not as high as in some of our recent games. They had two chances which I was able to stop but in the second half they played much better and brought a real threat. Girona always make life difficult, it’s three points we really had to win today".
"The penalty is a shame. After that we struggled to control the game and that’s when they made it 1-2. We didn’t react well and Girona took the win. Now we have to continue winning games and put in a good performance against Levante. We have to keep fighting, LaLiga is a long-run thing”.
Lucas Vázquez: "We were on a very positive run"
"The team’s first-half performance was great but when we failed to get the second goal, the game was wide open. We weren’t as sharp after the break as we have been recently and they were much better. We were on a very positive run and we played some great football in the first half, we just switched off in the second".
"We’re in the middle of a very heavy fixture list, it’s been a demanding month. Perhaps the team paid the price today but we have to look at ourselves, analyse the game and make sure we don’t repeat those mistakes. We knew Girona well, we’ve already played them three times this season. It’s a frustrating day for us".

Odriozola: "The good bit of the season is still to come and you can never write off Real Madrid".

"I don’t think we’ll have too much to do to get back on track. It is all still to be decided and there are important games to come. We want to do big things. We still have a way to go in LaLiga. We can’t rule ourselves out, we need to get back up, keep working and fight til the last".

Odriozola: “This team never gives up"
“This is a tough moment. We’ve been snowed under recently, but we’ve handled it well, this is just a blip. We could have won that game, but in the end, we didn’t manage it. We have to self-assess and regroup. We have a lot to look forward to and Real Madrid can never be written off, we’ll keep fighting”.

“There are no excuses in this situation. Girona deserved the win. The first half we did well, we had chances to get back into it; but we didn’t do it and our rivals played their game. We need to bounce back as a group and face the music. This is never down to over-confidence. At Real Madrid we always give our all. This is a hard one for the team and fans to take, but we never give up”.

Three competitions
“That’s how our schedule is, and there are no excuses. We are still in three competitions. LaLiga is tough but in previous years we have made the points up. We will keep fighting to the end”.
