NEWS | 15/09/2018 | Javier García (Bilbao)“We did everything we could to win the game but the ball just wouldn't go in for us”, stated Marcelo.
"In the first half, we struggled to move the ball around but we improved after the break and that told in the final result. It's an underwhelming result because we would have liked to have put another three points on the board, but we've now got to focus on our next game".
"I'll have to watch the game back and analyse it, but we certainly lacked pace to create spaces in the first 45 minutes. They defended well, they know how to defend as a unit and stay compact and it's really difficult to ask any questions of them. In the second half, we managed to break beyond that first line of pressure and were able to pick our passes better".
"We're dedicated to doing our jobs and it doesn't matter who plays. We know that we have to give our all and pick up three points in every game, that's why we don't see a draw as being a good result. We always go out to win and there are things we have to improve on".
Marcelo: “We didn't want to drop any points here”
"The draw is a bit disappointing. We were hoping for a fairer outcome, which would have been to win the game. We gave it our all to do so and we improved in the second half but we have to move on from this game and think about the next. We had a lot of the ball and created chances but it just wouldn't go in for us. We've got a fantastic team, we played well, but we couldn't win the game".
"We didn't want to drop any points here. We also lacked a bit of patience. After going behind, we tried to get on top quickly, but that's the way things go in football. We came very close to getting the three points. We're firing on all cylinders right now".
