“We're happy with the win and the work the team is doing, and we have to keep on in this vein because we're on a good run", said the Mallorcan.
The clash at the Benito Villamarín saw Real Madrid eclipse 6,000 LaLiga goals. The team's third on the night against Betis brought up the historic figure and the goal was certainly befitting of the milestone. Carvajal set off on a marauding run down the right-hand side, leaving two men in his wake before pulling back for Asensio, who stroked the ball home beautifully with the inside of his left boot.

The scorer of the 6,000th goal reflected on the feat: "I dedicated the goal to Ceballos because he's a good friend of mine and I knew I'd dedicate it to him if I scored here. The first goal was for another friend because we had a bet on that if I scored with my head, I'd have to shave my hair off”.

Fine form
“We're happy with the win and the work the team is doing, and we have to keep on in this vein because we're on a good run. They play some great football, they were able to find some space, but after the break we improved a lot and put in a good performance”.

We talked at half-time about playing higher up the pitch and that worked out well for us in the second half.

"We knew that Betis like to play good football. We got off to a bright start, they then pinned us back, but we talked at half-time about playing higher up the pitch and that worked out well for us in the second half".

Place in the history books
Asensio joins a long list of scorers in this respect, started by Lazcano against Europa in 1929. Pahíño scored the 1,000th in Bilbao (1950). The second thousand came from the boot of Gento against Pontevedra (1963) and the third was scored by Juanito in Salamanca (1981). We had to wait 13 years for Zamorano, in Valladolid, to make it 4,000 and the fifth thousand came against Numancia when Guti scored in 2008. Barcelona, with 5,962 goals, are next in the top scorer's ranking in the history of the league.
