Chus Mateo: “We have 19 wins in a row, which is quite a feat”
“The team played an intelligent game and in the tricky moments we stuck together”, explained the coach after the victory against Río Breogán.
Chus Mateo analysed Real Madrid's victory at Río Breogán in round 31 of the league. The coach said after the game: “We know that it's not easy to finish first in the league but we also know that it doesn't mean anything, that we have to be ready in the playoffs and that for sure there will be tough moments like today, where we will have to stick together to get through them”.
“It wasn't an easy court for us, and in the difficult moments we were together to get through a game that, as it always is here, was difficult for us. The team played an intelligent game, in which we were good defensively. Although in the second quarter we lost a lot of balls and in the third we gave away a lot of free throws, overall I'm happy. We also dominated the rebounding, which always gives us a lot”.
“It was a game of basics, in which we had to be good in the balance, good in the rebounding and not commit many losses. We've won 19 in a row, which is quite a feat because of how difficult this league is. We know that this doesn't give you anything more than home-court advantage, but now we can't get distracted, we have to keep up the work we've been doing all year”.
