Academy graduate features in Sexta final

A product of the Madrid youth set-up, Samuel Puente was promoted to the first team in the 1974/75 after a spell with Valladolid. In his maiden season at Real Madrid, he played his part in the league and cup successes and returned to Valladolid for the following two seasons.

He returned to Madrid in the 1977/78 season and joined a roster that featured the likes of Corbalán, Brabender, Szczerbiak, Rullán and co. Puente was a defensive specialist with a good shot from long range. During that season, he did his bit as the team captured the sixth European Cup and a third Intercontinental Cup. At the end of the season, he headed back to Valladolid, where he rounded off a fine career.
