The ideal teammate for Sabonis and Arlauckas

A 2.14m centre who came up through the Madrid youth academy and made the leap to the first team in 1993, where he played for 3 seasons. Juan Ignacio Romero secured a place in Clifford Luyk's squad with two other youth-team graduates, Lasa and Santos.

Real Madrid won the League in his debut year. He complemented the inside rotation in the legendary team in which Sabonis, Arlauckas, Ricky Brown and Biriukov excelled. He was part of the squad that won the eighth European Cup in Zaragoza against Olimpiakos in the 1994-95 season, under Obradovic's leadership.
