Win over Levante Las Planas
MATCH REPORT.Mireia Jiménez

Real Madrid picked up a fantastic win on the road in their last league clash of the year. Our team grew into the game against Levante Las Planas, ultimately taking all three points after Zornoza found the net on 69 minutes, before Olga made sure from the spot with 80 on the clock.

The first half passed by without any real chances of note. Real Madrid were on top, dominating the ball, though the hosts kept the press high up and made life hard for Toril's team. Athenea was the leading light in attack, causing problems for the defence, but it was a long-range Zornoza strike that was the clearest opportunity of the first half, and Nay Cáceres did superbly to turn it onto the post (38’).

Our team continued to push for an opener following the restart. Athenea could have found it on 53’, but Cáceres came out on top in the one-on-one. Shortly afterwards, Zornoza struck the post once again and Madrid were deserving of a goal. It did ultimately come from the boots of Zornoza, who unleashed a fierce drive with her right foot to leave the home side's goalkeeper with no chance. Ten minutes later, Simon brought Athenea down in the box and Olga stepped up to convert from 12 yards to make it 0-2. The madridistas see out 2023 on Wednesday when they host Paris FC in their fourth Women’s Champions League game (9:00pm CET).
