Real Madrid defeats Deportivo in their final preseason friendly

Real Madrid concluded their preseason with a victory against Deportivo at the Ciudad Real Madrid. Pau Quesada’s side came back from Lucía Pardo’s goal (58’) thanks to strikes from Oihane SM (60’) and Pau Rubio (66’). This result means the madridistas finish their preparation with a record of four wins in five matches.

Our team started the game dominating and created the first chance in the 14th minute. Noe Llamas struck a low cross from Keukelaar first-time, but Paula Novo denied the 1-0. Just past the half-hour mark, Linda Caicedo came close to opening the scoring after receiving a good pass from Schröder, but Tarazona made the save. Until the end of the first half, Real Madrid maintained control, but the score remained unchanged.

After the break, Michi tested Frohms with a left-footed shot that the madridista goalkeeper saved with a good intervention. In the 58th minute, Lucía Pardo capitalized on a counterattack to put Deportivo ahead with a right-footed strike. Despite the setback, our team responded quickly and equalized just two minutes later. Candela delivered a great cross into the box, and Oihane SM finished first-time with the inside of her right foot to make it 1-1 (60’).

Completing the Comeback
Madrid didn’t stop after the equalizer, and six minutes later, they scored the second goal. A dangerous cross from Pau Rubio ended up in the net defended by Tarazona, completing the comeback (66’). Pau Quesada’s side held onto the lead until the final whistle, wrapping up the preseason with their fourth victory in five matches. The next challenge will be an official competition game on Wednesday, August 26, against Ajax at Sportpark De Toekomst in the first leg of the third round of the Women’s Champions League (7:30 pm CEST).
