Toril's side, who also hit the woodwork twice, took all three points in the Women's Champions League with spectacular strikes from Weir and Moller, a header from Bruun, and a penalty from Linda C.

Real Madrid overwhelmed Celtic in a match they dominated from start to finish and in which they even deserved to go further ahead after hitting the woodwork twice. The Whites took the lead after just seven minutes with a spectacular left-footed strike from Weir. After the break, Toril‘s side came out all guns blazing and secured all three points on the second matchday of Women's Champions League Group B with Bruun’s header, Moller‘s precise lob and Linda C’s penalty. Making her debut was Antonia Silva, who was injured with Brazil at the Paris Olympics.
Real Madrid came out to dominate at the Alfredo Di Stéfano. With very heavy pressure, Toril‘s side were quick to get back into their opponents’ half, and the results came early on. After just seven minutes they took the lead with a real stunner. Weir received the ball far out of the box, looked up and unleashed a left-footed shot that the visitors' keeper could do little about. There was even a chance for a second for the home side three minutes later when Linda C. created a chance single-handedly only to see her shot deflected wide by Daugherty.
The tempo was high and Real Madrid continued to create some dangerous chances. Leupolz took a corner in the 19th minute, Daugherty deflected and Lakrar appeared at the far post but shot wide. Ten minutes later, Olga tried a shot that ended up in the hands of the visiting keeper. On 30 minutes, Leupolz won the ball back on the edge of the area but her shot was cleared by Clark after she had beaten Daugherty.
Oihane hits the post
Toril's side were on fire and it looked like a second goal was only a matter of time. It could have come from their ninth corner. Weir took it, Gallacher cleared it with her head and there was Oihane waiting to volley home with her left foot. The ball hit the visiting player before crashing against the post. The Whites deserved more, but went into the break with a slender lead after 17 shots, nine of which were on target.
Second ball against the post
Luck was proving elusive for Real Madrid and in the 51st minute, is was made evident again. Linda C. collected a rebound inside the box and her powerful shot hit the post. It was the second chance in which the post prevented a goal for Madrid. Toril's team kept attacking in search of that deserved second goal and it almost came in the 68th minute. Daugherty tried to clear and Bruun, very quick, intercepted the ball and shot only to miss the target by inches. The reward came four minutes later. Eva Navarro‘s cross was met by Bruun’s diving header. The visitors responded with a left-footed shot from Noonan from the edge of the area which was saved beautifully by Misa.
Madrid now two up, it was time for Antonia Silva, who was injured with Brazil at the Olympic Games in Paris, to make her debut in the 76th minute. It was the preamble to the last two goals of the game. The first was a beautifully taken goal in the 80th minute with a long-range, precise lob from Moller. The second, two minutes later, came from Linda C., who earned a penalty when she was brought down in the box by McGregor after some quick, flashy dribbling with both feet. The Colombian converted the spot-kick to seal the win for Toril's side.
