Honours even in the league opener

Real Madrid made their Liga F bow with a draw against DUX Logroño at the Estadio Municipal Las Gaunas. María Méndez put our team ahead just after the half-hour mark from a set piece, but Isina turned the game on its head with a brace. In added time, Bruun secured a point with a superb header from a corner kick.

Pau Quesada, who was making his official debut in charge of the team, saw a very solid and dominant performance from his side from the start, but they were unable to break down the opposition's defense until the 33rd minute, when a set piece led to the 0-1. Weir swung in the corner and the rebound fell to Athenea, who unleashed a spectacular volley from the edge of the area. M. Méndez was quickest to react, using her left knee to guide the ball into the back of the net. Our team's joy was short-lived. Isina, with an excellent long-range shot, equalised in the 39th minute. In first-half added time, Asenjo could have made it 2-1 with another long-range shot, but the crossbar came to the rescue.

Chances
After the break, Pau Quesada's side pressed hard in search of a second goal and could have scored twice in quick succession. The first chance came from a set piece in the 52nd minute. Weir took the corner, Irune won the first contact, and Marta on the goal line saved her team with a fantastic block. Two minutes later, Linda Caicedo crossed and Eva Navarro appeared out of nowhere at the far post, but this time it was goalkeeper Miralles who prevented the goal with a fine save. These were our team's best minutes, and they threatened again in the 60th minute after a neat move that ended with a shot from Weir that was saved by the home goalkeeper.

Real Madrid deserved to be ahead and, in the 66th minute, another chance came. Linda C. controlled the ball inside the area and worked it to Weir, who shot over from inside the six-yard box. The minutes passed and the possible 1-2 became 2-1. Isina's free kick hit the post but ended up in the net after hitting Frohms' back. Our team from that moment onwards, battled for at least a draw, which came in added time thanks to a header from Bruun.
