Madrid goal feast at Alfredo Di Stéfano against FC Twente

The Whites picked up three crucial points at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium against FC Twente on matchday three of the Women's Champions League. Real Madrid controlled the game from the start and Bruun reflected this by scoring the first goal after just three minutes. María Méndez doubled the lead in the 16th minute and, in the second half, Feller, Weir, Méndez again, Oihane and Carla Camacho rounded off the team's scoring. With this victory, the Madridistas sit second in Group B with 6 points and are closing in on reaching the quarter-finals.
 
The Madridistas got off to the best possible start. First Linda C. advanced to the byline, pulled back for Weir, and Bruun deftly connected with the Scottish striker's pass to make it 1-0 just three minutes into the clash. The Whites swiftly doubled their lead just after the 15-minute mark when M. Méndez rose highest in the box to head home Leupolz’s corner.

The visitors carved out numerous chances to reduce the deficit but were unable to find the target. On the stroke of half-time, Weir almost grabbed a third when her shot from inside the area grazed the crossbar. After the break, the Scotswoman delivered a superb cross into the box for Feller to power home a header past Clark (50'). And just five minutes later, Weir's left-footed free-kick from the edge of the area flew into the top corner of the net.
 
The game became one-way traffic and, just past the hour mark, María Méndez got her double with another header from a corner. Straight after, in the 64th minute, Oihane won a ball back in her own half, linked up with Bruun, and the Madridista defender slotted past Clark in goal. In the 74th minute, Angeldahl almost made it seven after a shot from Linda C.‘s pass crashed against the crossbar. But it was Carla Camacho who made it 7-0 after latching on to a rebound in the box. It was a victory and a historic win for Real Madrid.
