Victory against Sevilla in first clash of 2026

Real Madrid kicked off 2026 with a bang. The Whites beat Sevilla in the first fixture of the year, on matchday 15 of the Liga F. Linda Caicedo opened the scoring at the Alfredo Di Stéfano and Weir doubled the lead before half-time. In the second half, despite the chances, the score remained the same.

The early stages of the game saw both sides have chances, although it was a very evenly matched affair. In the 23rd minute, Linda Caicedo popped up to break the deadlock. Weir broke free of her marker with a flicked control and slipped a fine pass to the Colombian, who beat the keeper with a close-range shot. Six minutes later, it was the Scotswoman who made it 2-0 after finishing Athenea's pass behind the defence.
 

An even contest
After the interval, Sevilla stepped up a gear in an attempt to close the gap. Misa saved a Gabarro strike from entering the top corner with a great save (47') and Däbritz replied with a shot that Isa Álvarez cleared off the line (51'). In the 80th minute, Angeldahl had the chance to score from the spot after a penalty was awarded for a foul on Athenea, but Sullastres managed to turn her effort wide. It was the first win of the year for the Whites, who will play again at home this Tuesday, this time against Athletic Club (7pm CET).
