In a very tough game, an own goal gave our team the win, meaning they still have not dropped any points at home.
Real Madrid picked up three hard-earned points at the Alfredo Di Stéfano. Pau Quesada's players secured victory in a top-end of the table clash against Real Sociedad to move into second place. Our team secured the win thanks to an own goal by Moraza at the end of the first half. With this result, the Madridistas continue their excellent home form, where they have won seven games out of seven.
The early stages were evenly matched, with both teams creating chances that failed to be converted. There was no real danger until the 24th minute, when Misa made a superb diving save to deny Aiara's shot. Real Madrid’s best chance came just before the end of the first half, and they made no mistake. Däbritz sent in a wonderful corner, Redondo tried to get on the end of it, and Moraza, trying to clear, sent the ball into her own net (43').
Madrid defend their lead
After the break, Athenea could have increased the lead with two consecutive shots from the side of the area that Arrula deftly cleared (49'). On the hour mark, the visitors could have equalised, but the referee ruled out Claudia Florentino's goal for a previous infringement. Both teams continued to search for a goal, but neither managed to change the score, although Misa prevented the equaliser with several high-quality saves in added time and Athenea missed the chance to add a second when her low, cross shot flashed across the goal and just wide of the post (92').
