Redondo and Weir scored the winning goals for Pau Quesada's side in the first half.
Real Madrid beat Madrid CFF 2-1 on the third matchday of Liga F. The Whites, playing their first official match at the Di Stéfano in four months, took the lead with Redondo's superb goal in the 17th minute. The visitors equalised five minutes later, but in the 34th minute, Weir made it 2-1 to seal Madrid's first victory in the national championship.
The first half was intense, with both teams looking to impose their style of play. Real Madrid took the lead. Eva Navarro made a driving run down the right wing, changed pace, looked up and delivered a precise cross to Alba Redondo, who opened the scoring with a header that was almost in the top corner. However, the visitors soon equalised in the 21st minute, when Frohms was surprised by a powerful low shot from Sosa from outside the area.
Weir gives Real Madrid the lead
Our team remained in control of the match. In the 34th minute, Weir controlled the ball inside the area after a strong header from Lakrar, shook off her marker and fired a powerful shot past the visiting goalkeeper to make it 2-1. Four minutes later, Redondo tried to surprise everyone with a shot from almost halfway, but it went slightly wide. At the end of the first half, Pau Quesada asked the referee to review the Football Video Support for an action in the area on Weir, but Rivera Olmedo ended up ruling offside before that play.
After the restart, Real Madrid sought to extend their lead quickly when Feller was inches away from getting her head to Toletti’s cross from the edge of the area in the 46th minute. The visitors responded with a header from Nautnes in the 49th minute that crashed off the crossbar. The score remained unchanged and Pau Quesada's side now have their sights set on the second leg of the third qualifying round of the Women's Champions League against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Di Stéfano, which will be played on Thursday, 18 September.
