Defeat in the Super Cup final

Real Madrid were unable to lift the Spanish Super Cup. Pau Quesada's players, who had several chances to score, lost to Barcelona in the trophy decider, played at the Castalia stadium in Castellón. The early stages were evenly matched, with chances for both teams. The best chance didn't come until the 26th minute, when Vicky connected with a shot from the edge of the box that Misa tipped away with a fine save. However, from the resulting corner, Brugts headed home to make it 1-0.

Madrid reacted and, after several attempts, Däbritz came close to equalising with a long-range shot that crashed against the crossbar (47'). After the break, our team came out intent on turning the score around, but the Barça defence denied Madrid a goal. Despite our team's good spell, the opposition had several chances that Misa thwarted thanks to her fine stops.

Madrid, unlucky
Linda C. and Athenea responded in the 71st minute with two shots inside the area that went narrowly wide. The Colombian kept pushing, but the opposition defence remained impenetrable. In the final minutes, Misa once again prevented Barcelona from increasing their lead and kept Real Madrid's hopes alive. However, luck was not on our side and, in added time, Alexia made it 2-0 from the penalty spot.
