Defeat in the derby

Real Madrid lost in their visit to the Alcalá de Henares Sports Centre. Pau Quesada's team failed to take any points in their visit to Atlético Madrid in their second League fixture of the season (2-1). The home side took the lead in the first half through Lauren Leal. In the second half, despite our team being reduced to 10 players after Bruun's sending off in the 60th minute, Däbritz managed to restore parity with a superb free kick. However, Luany sealed the points for Atlético with a goal in the closing minutes.

The first quarter of an hour was a cagey affair. But in the 17th minute, the home side took the lead with a Lauren Leal header from a corner kick. They could have doubled their lead five minutes later through Gio, but a fantastic save from Frohms prevented the goal. Our team came close to equalising before half-time after L. Gallardo scrambled a Toletti corner off the goal line.

Real Madrid reduced to 10
The Madridistas came out onto the pitch with the intention of getting back on level terms. Eva Navarro came close to doing so in the 50th minute, after connecting with a volley from the side of the area that was saved by the opposing goalkeeper. Pau Quesada's side were enjoying their best spell of the game and, just after Luany had prevented the equaliser on the goal line, Bruun was sent off after receiving her second yellow card for a foul on Lauren Leal in the 60th minute.

Real Madrid continued to search for a goal. Their persistence paid off when Däbritz made it 1-1 with an impressive long-range free kick that flew into the top corner of the opposition's goal. Our team continued to search for the winning goal. Lola Gallardo saved a dangerous shot from Redondo. With the game wide open, a goal from Luany in the 83rd minute prevented the Madridistas from adding to their tally at the Alcalá de Henares Sports Centre.
